ETIQUETTE & POLICIES

Dance is traditionally an art form which demands discipline. Students are expected to be respectful of other students and their instructor while in class.  For the benefit of other students, disruptive students will be dismissed from the school without a tuition refund.

The Chamberlain School of Performing Arts is located in a public, multi-use building.  Parents should accompany young children to and from the studio.  Parents are welcome to wait for their children in the main lobby area.  Please refrain from entering offices or unoccupied studios.

Food and drinks (with the exception of bottled water in a closed container) are restricted to the lobby or dressing room areas and is not allowed in the studios.

Parents and students are responsible for cleaning up after themselves and are expected to treat the facilities with respect.

Parents are welcome to enter the studios and observe only on those days set aside for parent observation.

To promote a healthy and positive environment, please observe the following:
  • Valuables should not be left unattended in the lobby or dressing room area. CSPA is not responsible for lost or stolen property.
  • Students must wear street clothes to and from the studio.
  • Any student found using drugs or alcohol will be expelled.
  • Students and parents are required to treat the CSPA facility and staff with respect.
  • Students are not permitted to play the piano.
Attendance
Regular attendance is critical to the development of each student.  Absences from class slow progress and hinder achievement.  Students who are unable to take class due to injury are expected to observe.  Students must report any absence to the school prior to the class in order to be excused.  Repeated absences can result in dismissal from the program.  Refunds are not given for missed classes. Students are expected to be on time for class.  Students more than 10 minutes late to any class may be asked to sit and observe in lieu of participation.

Makeup Classes
In case of illness or emergency, missed classes may be made up at an equal level or one below at any time during the semester in which the class is missed.  CSPA strongly encourages students to make up classes that they miss.  The school must be notified prior to class time.

Drop Off/Pick Up
When dropping off your student(s) for classes, please pull up in front of the studio to let them out of the car.  To comply with the Plano City Ordinance, please do not linger in the fire lane.  Move on immediately and please do not use the handicapped ramp as a parking space.

Parents who bring small children need to supervise them!  Out of consideration for the staff and others waiting in the hall, disruptive children will be asked to leave the lobby area.

Prompt retrieval of your child will ensure his/her safety.  When picking up your student(s) after classes, please park in a designated parking spot and come inside the school to get your child.  Students are asked to remain in the school lobby and not outside while waiting for rides.  It is our policy for the children to wait inside the building.

School Closings
Please see the calendar for a full list of Studio holidays.   In the event of inclement weather, CSPA follows the lead of the Plano Independent School District.
